While manufacturers of processors with ARM architecture master production solutions with two or four cores, Intel has introduced its version of single-chip system with a single core, which is known under the code name Medfield.
Medfield supports Hyper-Threading Technology and capable of processing two threads simultaneously. Meanwhile, in SoC products compete NVIDIA, Qualcomm and Samsung company, which can offer four physical core. According to Mike Bell , head of Intel mobile communications technology , the Android thread scheduler simply is not designed to work with multi-core processors.
Intel spokesman said that the developers of multi-core processors for mobile devices should pay more attention to optimize their decisions on the software part, several limiting the rate of increase of extensive quantitative characteristics.
In turn, Intel specialists work to improve the scheduler in Android for future generations of Atom processors for smartphones and tablets.
