Associate reported interesting details about the future of hybrid hard drives (hybrid-HDD). These drives combine a conventional magnetic plate with a buffer of flash memory in which frequently accessed data is written.
So far in the production of hybrid drive was seen only Seagate. Late last year, this last released another update series of drives Momentus XT, armed with 8 GB buffer from NAND SLC-memory and disk capacity of 500 or 750 GB.
The present level of hybrid drive adaptation is enough for the consumer market, according to Toshiba, but it is clearly ripe for the corporate market. Toshiba Company will produce its first hybrid drive in September.
