Intel at IDF Fall 2012 session talked about the features of 22 nm manufacturing process, which will be used to produce SoC Atom. Technology is different from the one used in the production of Ivy Bridge generation processors , and means used for greater efficiency.
Intel single-chip system for tablet devices and smart phones in question, also known by the code name Bay Trail. They will replace Clover Trail platform, and probably will be presented in spring at IDF in Beijing.
Bay Trail will apply logic transistors with low currents leakage and transistor I / O with a higher voltage. SoC will be in the top layer, and a set of passive interconnect elements (resistors, thin-film MDM capacitors and inductors in high Q). Overall, Intel will offer a "menu" of different options for logic, I / O, interconnects, and other built-in memory, and the range of options available will depend on the requirements of SoC model .
While Intel has only one model of single-chip systems - Medfield. In the future, Intel promises more devices based on its own SoC.
