Smartphones and tablets are the main consumers of flash memory, this year 36% of all produced NAND chips will be used in these devices. But despite the strong growth in this segment of the market, the manufacturers of solid state memory have concern, because the amount of internal memory in mobile devices is reduced.
Thus, in the first half 2013, the average amount of ROM mobile phone was 12.8 GB, while a year ago the figure was 13.2 GB. Interestingly, the decline observed after almost threefold increase: in the first half of 2011 phones carried on board an average of 4.6 GB of flash memory. In 2011, the average tablet has 32.1 GB of memory, but in 2012 the value was reduced by a quarter, up to 24 GB. This year, the average amount of memory is 14 GB tablet.
