In the second quarter 2013, Intel promised to give us an update to Thunderbolt controllers generation : Redwood Ridge . Their main feature is the support of the interface DisplayPort 1.2. The event took place in NAB 2013 in Las Vegas, Intel really presented controllers Thunderbolt DSL4510 (two ports) and DSL4410 (one port), belonging to Redwood Ridge and providing support for DisplayPort 1.2. Their use reduces the cost of the platform, but specific data on the cost of new products was not mentioned.
Additionally, Intel demonstrated a prototype of the controller Falcon Ridge, which will be released next year and will provide increased bandwidth of the interface Thunderbolt to 20 Gbit / s. This, in particular, will also transfer video files from Ultra HD resolution and display the image on the screen. Thunderbolt interface allows to connect monitors with DisplayPort interface, so the type of transmitted data can be combined.
