With the arrival of a new CEO, Intel also marked a new course highlighting the priority of mobile and energy-efficient solutions.
The point of attack should be Silvermont architecture , which in the long term will come in a wide range of devices from tablets to desktops and mikroserver. In the latter case we are talking about processors Atom C2000, previously known by the code names Avoton and Rangeley.
So, Avoton replaced processors Atom S1200 (Centerton), Rangeley processors designed specifically for networking and communications equipment. Atom C2000 series Representatives are made from 22-nanometer technology, which gives them an advantage in the ratio of four times the performance and energy consumption compared to their predecessors. The processors include up to 8 cores, up to 64 GB of memory and virtualization technology. In addition, Atom C2000 single chip systems also contain a
set of integrated I / O controller such as Gigabit Ethernet (4 ports), SATA and PCI Express (16 lines).
Intel also outlined the development plan, according to which in the next year will come the first solutions - like the classic CPU, belonging to the series Xeon E3, and single-chip systems. For their production will be used 14-nm technology.
