AMD reported about willingness to submit to the first half of 2014, two new mobile processors: Beema and Mullins.
Both processors families will use the computational core architecture Puma, which will be the evolutionary successor to the Jaguar and the graphicssystem generation GCN 1.0. Published in a footnote an official press release on the results of testing processors Beema and Mullins suggests that the entire increase in graphics performance will be achieved mainly by increasing the clock frequency. In the graph, the new processors will be about 20% faster than its predecessors.
Performance computing cores will grow by 24-35%, but is still difficult to distinguish which part of the growth will provide architectural changes, and what - increasing frequencies. AMD says that the TDP of Beema processors will be within 10-25 W, addressed to tablet and silent notebook processors Mullins introduces the concept of SDP - the corresponding value is around 2 watts, although the samples available Mullins processors have TDP of 4.5 watts.
In general, AMD claims an improvement of specific performance per watt nearly doubled. Mullins will be 139% effective precursor (Temash), Beema - 104% (compared to Kabini). Note that compared to Beema processors Kabini have different TDP - 15 W and 25 W, respectively. Processor TDP Temash limited to 8 watts.
Both processors families support functions TrustZone - they are equipped with a special core architecture ARM Cortex-A5, which is responsible for information security.
Processors Beema and Mullins will also support technology quickly awakening InstantGo, which allows systems running Windows Update to check mail and network resources in sleep mode - the battery should last for 14 days of work in such a scenario.
Interface DockPort, supported by the data processor, is an alternative to Thunderbolt. It allows to connect up to four monitors simultaneously transmits data at a speed of USB 3.0, and also allows to charge mobile device from the corresponding connectors. The interface is based on a combination of DisplayPort 1.2 and USB 3.0, so it is suitable for connecting various peripherals.
In the desktop segment Beema processors will be also offered - in Socket FT3 (BGA). Obviously, we are talking about set-top boxes, nettops and monoblocks. In the older segment of the entire 2014, AMD processors are scheduled only in Socket AM3 + architecture Piledriver, produced on 32-nm technology.
