The Swedish company Volvo has long made road safety its top priority. According to the current concept, after 2020 people in general will no longer be killed or severe injuries in accidents involving cars of this brand. In the spring of last year, all new Volvo models equipped with an automatic braking when approaching pedestrians and cyclists involved radar and cameras to help prevent such collisions. At CES 2015, as reported by the US subsidiary Volvo Cars, the company together with its partners will demonstrate a promising version of the system to help prevent collisions with cyclists. In some countries, up to 75% of road deaths are unrelated to accidents involving cyclists and only in the United States each year in road accidents suffered 50,000 cyclists.
During the work on the new generation of Volvo safety system had to cooperate with the manufacturer of bicycle helmets POC and telecom manufacturer Ericsson. "Smart Helmet" allows using a special app on your smartphone to track the movement of a cyclist on a city in real time, and the car Volvo XC90 gets the latest generation of "cloud" warning of the approach of a cyclist as an icon on the windshield, which is formed by a special projector.
The arrow shows the direction from which a cyclist is approaching. In turn, the cyclist can be also warned of the approach of the vehicle Volvo - helmet LED lights.
All Volvo vehicles are equipped with XC90 system. The problem is that not all cars on the road are the products of this model, and cyclists have not yet begun to use the smart helmets.
