The share of Android-smartphone in the world mobile market is growing steadily. This is evidenced by a new report of research firm Strategy Analytics.
According to Strategy Analytics, in the third quarter of 2016 global smartphone shipments reached 375.4 million units, of which 87.5% are running the Android mobile operating system, whereas a year ago they accounted for 84.1% of the market. At the end of last quarter, iPhone has sold 45.5 million copies, taking 12.1% of the market. The remaining 0.3% is the share of smartphones running other operating systems, including Windows Phone, BlackBerry, and Tizen OS. Their quarterly sales for the year fell by 84.1% - from 8.2 million to 1.3 million units. At the same time, sales of Android-smartphone increased by 10.3% - from 298 million in the third quarter of 2015 to 328.6 million in the third quarter of 2016.
"Android retains a dominant position in the third quarter of 2016 with a record share of 88%. The share of Android has increased at the expense of its main competitors. Thus, the proportion of iOS fell to 12% due to weak sales of the iPhone in China and Africa. The BlackBerry and Windows Phone still remain on the market, but their share is insignificant, while the presence of Tizen and other new platforms is not growing because of the limited range of products and modest developers support , "- said the executive director of Strategy Analytics Neil Mouston .
In total for the year smartphone shipments grew by 6%. Related Products :
