Ibex peak chipset , which is the south bridge for LGA 1160 platform will be released in the third quarter 2009.
This chipset obtained the name : Intel p55 express. It will be connected with LGA 1160 processors using the DMI bus. The memory , PCI express controllers and even the graphic core (in case of havendale processors ) - will move to the processor; therefore Intel p55 will manage only communication with expansion cards and additional devices. Intel reports that P55 chipset will be compatible with future chipset . The built-in processor PCI express controller can work with one or two video card according to PCI express x8 + PCI express x8, ensuring compatibility with PCI express 2.0. Intel p55 support up to eight devices with PCI express x1 interface. The number of USB 2.0 ports can reach 14 pieces. Six ports SATA-300 ensure the support of RAID 0/1/5/10 and the technologies Intel matrix storage 9.0. Two serial ATA ports will propose support to the ports multiplier : FIS. This Chipset will also obtain the built-in gigabit network controller. | ||
