The next weeks will be saturated by new products: Intel prepares three processors models core i7, and its partners will support this event releasing motherboards , three-channel memory collections , cooling systems and other associated products.
Products for LGA-1366 processor are positioned in the high performance segment. For the mass segment will come the LGA-1160 socket and the platform ibex peak. This processors will support only dual-channel memory and use the DMI interface as system bus .

The corresponding chipset collections will obtain the designation Intel p5x. Chipset without IGP will be simple, since the memory controller will be located in the CPU. According to available data, on the CPU crystal will be located the PCI-Express controller. This will provide a direct connection between the processor and PCI-Express device, such, as graphic cards. In the series p5x will enter : P55, P53 and P51.

Here is the Basic P55 features :

Supported processors : LGA 1160, Lynnfield (four core) and Havendale (dual core);
PCI- E 2.0 expansion : one in x16 regime or two x8;

Ports SATA II : six, with RAID 0/1/5/10 support ;

Ports USB 2.0 : 14;
Gigabit Ethernet, HD audio.

P55 chipset will appear in the next year.

i just hope it comes with SLI support not again with crossfire !!!! otherwise it\'ll be bad for nvidia lovers !!
