Seagate company , which is the important hard disks producer, examines the possibility to release solid-state disks (SSD), and even to join Micron in the appropriate committee (JEDEC standardization) . Sooner or later selection relative to SSD will be forced to each classical HDD producer . Western digital company according to our associate, also waits for convenient moment in order to release solid-state disks. In the opinion of WD management , the presence of SSD is required in two market segments : budget and high performance. In the first case we deal with small SSD (cost not more than $30), which can be used in mobile devices and notebooks. Precisely solid-state memory as data storage is 3/4 of the corresponding portable computers. The second SSD sphere is the high end disks ( cost are more than $200 ), utilized in the corporate segment. It is known that solid-state disks possess a high operation speed , bottleneck is only the recording speed, but scientists and engineers work at the elimination of this deficiency. In the average mass segment classical HDD are good , in the opinion of WD for long , since the relationship of price / speed are more advantageous than SSD. Related Products :
