First, recently we explained that the RV790 chip will not obtain a larger quantity of functional blocks (Stream processors), and all improvements will be limited to an increase in the frequency. In the second place, RV790 chip will belong to the old 55 nm technical process.
Associate reports that AMD decided to release the RV790 chip on the updated 55 nm technical process due to the high currents leakage values which appeared in 40 nm technical process.
