Many analysts predicted a systematic reduction in the processors sales volumes in connection with the economic crisis, but in separate market segments in the first quarter was observed some exception connected with low reserves.
As reports associate with the reference to data from the analytical report mercury research, in the first quarter 2009 , the processor market demonstrated a decrease by up to 9,1% in the annual expression and up to 8,3% in the quarterly expression. In the latter case it completely corresponds to the seasonal demand reduction , which did not in recent years exceed 7,4%.
In the past year Intel company was able to increase its portion on the market for x86- compatible processors: from 78,5% in the first quarter to 82,1% in the fourth quarter. In the first quarter 2009 in Intel portion was only up to 78,2% of processor market - a decrease is observed in both annual and quarterly expression.
For AMD company it was possible to return the lost positions. In the first quarter last year it had 20,6% of the market, to the fourth quarter AMD portion decreased to 17%, while in the first quarter 2009 it grew to 20,9%. According to analysts estimations , AMD could bring warehouse reserves in correspondence with demand, that also ensured the success in the first quarter. On the past block VIA company portion was less than 1% for the market of x86- compatible processors.
