According to the analytical agency mercury research, AMD company in the first quarter this year increased its market portion for microprocessors from 17% to 20,9%. Intel company , correspondingly, decreased its portion from 82,1% to 78,2%. A drop in the processors sales volumes in the quarterly expression as a whole composed 8,3%. IDC Agency also published its study of the microprocessors market state  . On the IDC version, the processors sales volumes in the natural expression in the first quarter 2009 were reduced by 10,9% in comparison with the previous block, and by 13% in comparison with the first quarter 2008. A decrease between the third and fourth quarter 2008 was more noticeable : 17%. Although the  change of processors delivery volumes in the first quarter was only worse than on average for this season, IDC has foundations that the drop in the market will slows down. Atom processors deliveries volumes  , used in notebooks, in the first quarter were reduced by 33% in comparison with the previous block. In the analysts opinion , this is caused by the existence of noticeable reserves of atom processors , which passed from the fourth quarter 2008. According to IDC estimations , almost each fifth dispatched Intel processor in the first quarter has the atom logotype  , and the gain portion  from the realization of atom processors in the mobile segment reached 6,5%. The market for microprocessors in the first quarter has the following proportions: Intel portion up to 77,3% in the natural expression (- 4,7%),  AMD portion 22,3% (+4,6%), VIA portion 0,4%. Market shares : Mobile segment: Intel - > 84,3% (- 4,7%); AMD - > 15% (+4,7%); VIA - > 0,7%; Servers and work stations: Intel - > 89,3% (+1,2%); AMD - > 10,7% (- 1,2%); Desktop segment: Intel - > 70% (- 3,9%); AMD - > 29,8% (+3,8%). According to IDC forecasts , in the second quarter the processors sales volumes will continue to be reduced by moderate rates. Related Products :
