The history of SLI technology support by Intel chipset is rich in contradictory facts. First SLI support was added in Intel motherboard only in the server sector than later with X58 chipset it reached the desktop products.
Now the question about LGA 1156 SLI support remained unknown . The chipset for this socket support PCI express x8 + PCI express x8, in this case crossFire is supported. .  Associates on computex 2009 exhibitions revealed a motherboard on base of Intel p55 chipset from J&W production, The motherboard cooler indicates the support to SL technology. Possibly, NVIDIA could not obtain licenses to the production of chipset for Intel processors with the integrated memory controller ; therefore, the company decided to move its solutions SLI class with Intel fifth series support .
