According to associate, which is referred directly to the producers of Taiwan equipment , samsung electronics company intends to raise the cost of 1- Gbit DDR2 memory microcircuits . It is expected that the price will reach the value of $1,50 per piece . Thus the company would use strategy of low prices on DDR2 and like to be united with competitors from USA and Japan, but this it did not occur.
The company decided to reexamine the prices policy of DDR2. Gradually, Samsung will raise the price of 1- Gbit microcircuit, produced according to the 50 nm standards, $1,50 in the third quarter. For the present remaining Korean producers retain the prices at the level $1,20-$1,30. Associate indicates that an increase in the prices will allow DRAM- producers in Taiwan to leave the state of unprofitable production. Even if they will be oriented to the price $1,50, which as it is expected, this still lower than the necessary price, to Taiwan producers, in essence, to use 65 and 70 nm technologies, which do not allow to reduce the prime cost to $1,50. Among Taiwan producers only Nanya technology and Inotera memories are prepared to pass from the 70 nm standards for the thinner memory production (50- nm technical process), this must occur in the second-half of this year. But Powerchip semiconductor corporation (PSC) and Rexchip electronics plan to pass to the technical process 65 nm. According to inSpectrum data , the price of 1- Gbit DDR2 microcircuit grew by 5% in the last week and was $1,17. Related Products :
