The PCI express interface version 3.0 will not appear until 2010, although developers planned to prepare the appropriate specifications already in the present year. The transfer of specification preparation periods will also influence the appearance periods of the first commercial devices, which support the PCI express 3.0 bus. Now this is expected in 2010 - 2011.

The transfer of periods is officially confirmed by the President of group PCI special interest . According to him, additional time for developers is necessary for guaranteeing the valuable work of this new interface with PCIe 1.0 and PCIe 2.0 devices , engineers have to assure the valuable reverse compatibility.

A main difference in the third PCI express version from the previous is the increase in the bus frequency to 8,0 GHz. Due to this, and also due to an increase in the bus length during data coding , the bus capacity rises - from 4 Gbit/s to 7,99 Gbit/s (we deal here with the effective interface capacity ). Thus, developers were able to doubly increase the bus capacity without increase in its operating frequency . In the latter case before engineers would arise a number of complexities , for example, the increased energy consumption.
