We already know, that on July, 24th company AMD will reduce of the price of the duall core processors to compete more successfully with announced Intel processors, and also promptly becoming cheaper processors Pentium D 9xx. To keep profitability of manufacture, AMD will preliminary transfer processors with 2 Гµ 1 Mb of cache in more profitable server segment, and desktop models Athlon 64 X2 will have only on 2 Гµ 512 KB of cache.
As we already have noted today, the offer of one-core processors Athlon 64 will essentially be reduced, therefore in a desktop segment tone will be set with processors Athlon 64 X2. So, their prices should be reduced.
Some experts consider, that processors in cost hardly above $100 use the greatest demand. Basically, it is obvious - budget processors of type Sempron or Celeron D are more cheaply offered only, and many wish to buy younger model of those class processor with few dollars . Especially, if the processor is great overclocker :).
In the end of July younger processor Athlon 64 X2 will cost $169. It not a limit of reduction of price. As we know from the informed sources, in this year AMD can reduce the price for younger model Athlon 64 X2 up to $100-110. Apparently, it happens after autumn reduction of prices on processors Pentium D 9xx. In the fourth quarter of this year cost Pentium D 915 (2.8 GHz) will lower up to $113, and Pentium D 820 (2.8 GHz) will cost in general $93. We shall hope, that AMD can offer not less attractive prices.
