In Computex 2010 AMD representatives proudly demonstrated systems on base of first hybrid model processor generation fusion. It was considered Until now that in 2011 will be released the processors llano for desktop systems and productive notebook, and later will appear the processors ontario with bobcat architecture, which will be prescribed in mobile devices. At the past yesterday quarterly current conference AMD representatives made an important statement, which is concerned the announcement periods of fusion generation processors.
Let us first note the differences between the processors llano and Ontario, which were being mentioned by AMD at the yesterday's conference. The processors ontario is released on 40 nm technology with a monolithic base layers at TSMC. They are prepared to propose a speed level for certain contemporary processors en masse price segment with the doubly smaller core area and much lower energy consumption. Furthermore, the speed level of built-in graphic core of ontario processors will be unattainable for competitive decisions in those form factors, in which will be prescribed given processors. This graphic core will support directX 11.
The processors llano will combine computational core and graphic system on monolithic crystal, produced on 32 nm technology at globalfoundries, with the application of technology silicon on insulator (SOI), materials with high value of dielectric constant (high- k) and transistors with the metallic lock. Llano crystals will exist in two versions - The quantity of computational core, which can be equal to two or four. However, as a whole, the processors fusion will exist in four different design concepts.
AMD will start the delivery of ontario processors in the initially planned graph, already in the fourth quarter this year. If we consider that these processors will be used in a notebook, then the appearance of finished systems will appear before 2011.
The hybrid processors llano, mass production on 32 nm technology will be released by Globalfoundries, and its announcement must be detained relative to initial graph. According to AMD representatives , in this sphere are observed some problems with the output level of suitable chips.
In the second quarter, this year AMD obtained the first models 32 nm processors with bulldozer architecture, which will find a use in the upper part of desktop and the server segments. The deliveries of bulldozer models will begin in the present half-year, their announcement is planned for certain period 2011.
