Kingston company promised to reduce the prices of SSDs recently. As explained assocaite, citing the results of a recent study by DRAMeXchange, the fall in revenue become a trend of the industry for solid-state memory production in the fourth quarter last year. This proves that the solid-state memory becomes cheaper and is becoming more common.
If the NAND chip shipments for the quarter grew by 5%, the average cost of their implementation has fallen by 13%. As a result, the revenues of all producers in this segment decreased by 8.6% compared to last quarter. Leaders are Samsung and Toshiba, control 34.6% and 29.7% of the market. Memory Cards and USB-drives are sold worse than the solid-state memory used in smart phones and tablets. Samsung takes the production of memory in 21-nm process technology, Toshiba is ready to learn the 19 nm technology.
Smaller producers managed to keep the solid-state memory revenue growth. For example, Hynix with 13.7% of the market witnessed growth in sales volumes by 24%, and even a decrease in the average prices of 17% could not undermine the revenue growth of 5.7%. In the case of Micron, occupying 13.3% of the market, there was an increase in sales in value terms by 21%, sales price decreased by 11% as a result of increased earnings by 7.5%. The top five leaders company, Intel's 8.8% market share increased revenues in the last quarter by 3.6%.
