Plextor company intends to release a successor to the SSDs M2P and M3P. The new SSD will appear in the next month and will be called M5P.
The SSD controller is Marvell 88SS9187, which provides better performance when working with random blocks of 4 KB data in comparison with the model 88SS9174, which is used in storage M2P and M3P. In addition, M5P storage devices use flash memory chips Toggle DDR MLC, manufactured in factories of Toshiba's on 19 nm technology.
M5P drives support SATA interface with a bandwidth of 6 Gb / s and contain from 256 to 768 MB (depending on version) DDR3 buffer memory . Plextor models offer 128 GB, 256 GB and 512 GB.
Each of the models is able to read sequential data blocks at speeds up to 540 MB / s when writing this figures is up to 340 MB / s for 128 GB, 450 MB / s for 256 and 512 GB flash memory. With random blocks low-end model carries up to 91,000 I / Os per second (IOPS) for reading and up to 82,000 IOPS when writing for a more capacious versions 94,000 IOPS and 86,000 IOPS are typical, respectively.
