Toshiba company , whose staff in the eighties of the last century invented the solid-state memory, stated the 25th anniversary of this media type. SanDisk company , which since its founding in 1988, focused on the issue of data storage devices, too, could not stay away from this anniversary.
SanDisk remembered that in the past two decades, storage capacity based on solid-state memory increased by 30 000 times, and its cost has decreased by 50 000 times. For comparison: in 1991, SanDisk SSD offered a capacity of 20 MB for $ 1000, now it would cost no more than two cents.
According to Gartner experts , in the next four years, sales of SSDs in the enterprise market will increase by 250%. According to SanDisk, the future cloud solutions will make greater use of SSD. The spread of smartphones and tablets also helps to increase sales of solid state memory.
