Today appeared an interesting interview with the director of one research laboratories of Dell on the use of supercomputers, Tim Carroll .  As acknowledged by the team leader, the company is developing a prototype of a supercomputer based on ARM processor architecture . At the end of last year the European Union adopted the national program to develop a supercomputer on ARM platform.  As a prototype of the platform selected Samsung Exynos processor 5 (draft Mont-Blanc). Initially, the role of the prototype were assigned to NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor, but then the project was changed in favor of Samsung platform .  Obviously,  Dell company could not leave this movement without attention. Currently, ARM architecture processors are trying to use as a base of WEB-servers and cloud solutions.  In principle, they can play the role of a bridge between the supercomputer and the users.  In its pure form ARM-platform can not yet match the performance of supercomputers on a x86-compatible and RISC-architecture.   Related Products :
