Acer managed to attract orders for Chromebooks by public educational institutions in many countries, and in this regard the company turned to the suppliers with a request to increase production in order to avoid shortages of popular products. It is worth noting that successful Acer Chromebooks on the market now has taken almost half of the segment.
Acer CEO Jason Chen said that this year's global shipments Chromebooks will increase by 70%. In the structure of notebook shipments Acer devices running Chrome OS occupy 10%. The company is now focused on reforming its development plan and increase value for products.
Acer in the second quarter was the fourth largest supplier of notebook with a share of 8.2%. While Acer shipments increased by 18.5% for the year, and in Latin America in the first quarter the manufacturer does come out on top, ahead of Lenovo.
