For a long time, Intel introduced the technology Dynamic Power and Thermal Framework (DPTF), which has grown to version 8.1. This hardware and software solution is based in a mobile system (not only) for the temperature sensors and transducers consumption, determines the dynamic range of operating frequencies of the processor (SoC). In the case of heating above the permissible processor temperature, the mechanism to reduce the clock frequency (throttling). So far, the technology DPTF operated fixed temperature depending on the specifications of the CPU and the cooling capacity of the system. During one of the presentations at IDF 2015 it was announced that in future versions of drivers DPTF (8.1h) may appear adaptive throttling.
As explained by developers, the specific orientation of the tablet in space leaves room for the expansion of the dynamic range of the processor operating frequency . If the tablet is on the table, the temperature of the body will rise much faster than if the device is held vertically or in the dock with active cooling.
According to Intel, adaptive throttling temperature will increase the productivity of mobile solutions by up to 35%, but in some cases, for example, in the dock with active cooling, productivity can be doubled. Related Products :
