It is now obvious that the microelectronic industry consolidates to fight for a promising new segment - automation of vehicles. On its ambitions in this area openly says the Renesas , and one of the largest developers of processors for smartphones, Qualcomm's company, for a place in this market bought NXP's, which already owns Freescale assets.
As explained by the publication DigiTimes, the company MediaTek is not going to silently observe these changes. From the first quarter next year it will begin offering vehicle manufacturers and their contractors complete solutions, covering the following areas: automotive infotainment systems, image processing and pattern recognition, high-precision radar millimeter wave telematics systems. According to MediaTek representatives , getting all of the major electronic components of one developer, automakers will be able to less time and energy to spend on their mutual integration. Now the automotive industry practiced a different approach: using components of different developers, which is why they do not always manage to "make friends" with each other effortlessly. It is in the simplicity of integration offered by MediaTek component sees its advantage in this market.
The emergence of another ambitious player in the automotive electronics segment - is a definite plus. MediaTek in their time actively compete with foreign developers of processors for smartphones, and could take a decent niche.
