Taiwanese company Biostar, known for its motherboards, has announced the third series of solid-state drives under its own brand. For the first time in the market, SSD Biostar appeared last year as a series of SSD G300 and S100. Today, Biostar is introducing M200 SSD series in the M.2 form factor.
There is not much information on the product page. Photos of the product make it clear that the novelty is assembled on the popular Marvell controller for SSD entry-level - on the model 88SSNV1120, which was announced at the end of 2014. This is a controller that allows the SSD to work without DRAM buffer and only at the expense of the SRAM array integrated in the controller. As a NAND flash array for the SSD Biostar M200 series, the NAND TLC chips of SK Hynix are selected.
The declared linear read speeds reach 530 MB / s, and the write speeds approach 380 MB / s for the 120 GB version of SSD and 410 MB / s for the 240-GB version. There are no other volumes in the series. It should also be taken into account that due to the pseudo-SLC recording technology, the declared maximum write speeds can only be achieved in small time intervals. In conclusion, it remains to add that the SSD Biostar M200 interface is a SATA 6 Gb / s bus, and the drive's length is 80 mm,
although it obviously could be shorter. Related Products :
