AMD expects to switch over to the release of 45nm processors in Q1 2009. Here a picture from AMD road map which show how new processor
and chipset will appear .
AMD is not going to work a lot on chipset. Apparently, it decided to return the priority for the CPU and GPU development. In fact, the existing chipset will just add support to the new processors, calculated for AM3 socket. The following chipset generation will be presented by the model RD890, which is the updated RD790 (790FX motherboard). The number of modifications includes only AM3 and improved crossFire supports .
Excluding RD890, all the remaining chipset will have the integrated graphic processors (IGP). In the high performance segment will appear the RS880D, same as RS780D (790GX) with high frequencies additional energy-economy and improvements in the video region .
The mainstream segment will be based on two models, RS880 and RS880C, with similar characteristics, they are the development from RS780 (780G) with AM3 support and higher frequencies. Related Products :
