The first 45 nm deneb processors socket AM2+, which will be released during January 2009, will obtain some limitations ( compatibility with old motherboards ) , due to the power system. Socket AM3 processors will be deprived from this deficiency, and they can work in motherboards with socket AM2+ and Socket AM2.
Associates report that the reason for announcement delay of socket AM3 processors became their insufficiently high performance with the DDR-2 memory. In this case they will lag behind their socket AM2+ analog. In order to eliminate this problem some time was required, but AMD did not want to retain the announcement of first 45 nm processors; therefore it decided to present the first socket AM2+ processors 45nm, and then correct all deficiencies in socket AM3 processors .
It was considered that the first socket AM3 processors will appear during March 2009. As reports associate , this is correct only for deneb processors with TDP level not more than 95 W, or propus processors without cache in the third level. Deneb processors with TDP level not more than 125 W will obtain the socket AM3 and will appear not earlier than the second quarter 2009. Related Products :
