SSD Producers (Solid state drive : Using solid-state memory) already promised that their production will remove classical hard disks from the market. However, usual SSD occur not only considerably more expensive, but also they are considerably slower. Intel company took the necessary step to solve this problem , it developed a special SSD controller, which fulfills two basic functions, which increase the attractiveness of SSD in the eyes of user. The first function : notably increase the reading and record rates, due to the use of the ten-channel controller flash- memory, which, actually, organizes ten memory microcircuits in certain array RAID0. The second function is called to fight with the limited write cycles number of flash- memory, using the uniform load distribution throughout the entire memory array. Furthermore, this controller work well with storage cells , detecting their failures and replacing them with reserve cells. The volume of such reserves in the X25- M model is about 8% of the total disk volume . All the above improvement relates to both X25- M, which is already present several months and the recently presented X25- E, which, on Intel assertions , is capable to strike by its performance. Tech report, verified this assertion and made an honest duel between Intel , one of the fastest SSD from Samsung, HDD leader western digital velociRaptor, and ten usual hard disks from different producers. We note that ten chips flash- memory are from Samsung production , which comes out as buffer. The utilized in flash- memory. X25- M uses cheap and slow MLC memory, while the expensive X25- E use the high-speed chips based on SLC technology . The declared reading and record rates for X25- E are 250 Mb/s and 170 Mb/s , which considerably exceeds the indices of fastest hard disks in the market for desktop computers. X25- M is practically equal to X25- E in the reading tests , but it is considerably inferior with record operations . Thus, X25- M performance depends greatly on the task nature , it can either demonstrate an excellent performance on reading operations , or a completely slow, even inferior to classical hard disks. Specifically, this deficiency does not allow to assume that X25- M is the valuable HDD alternative , This cannot be said for X25- E, which practically in all tests engaged the leading positions, exceeding in certain cases usual HDD by dozens of times. Besides the performance, solid-state disk from Intel has a low energy consumption and heat emission level, and also practically completely noiselessness. Their price, which at present reaches astronomical values, is the only obstacle for solid-state drive to the mass market. In particular, X25- E cost about $720, which with the volume 32 GB raises the price for one giga-byte information to $22.5. These are one hundred or more times higher than the cost of classical HDD.
