The situation in the production of hard disk drives and components for them due to the flooding in Thailand remains unpredictable.   WD Employees, whose production capacity in Thailand are trying to minimize the damage.  Evacuation of equipment is complicated by the broken infrastructure.  The company is considering the transfer of production facilities in Malaysia.  In the event that evacuation equipment from Thailand to be economically feasible, the existing factories in Malaysia, will be refitted with new equipment purchased.  It may take from six months to twelve months.  Possible deficit of WD hard drives is going to compensate the reduced delivery times by eliminating the sea routes to send products by faster rapid airlines.   For example the Moscow retail prices of hard drives has jumped by 25-40%.  The critical situation was not only for  WD, but for other manufacturers, as in Thailand are produced many components necessary for the production of hard drives.  Manufacturers and their partners now make reassessment forces and prepare for a more economical distribution of stocks.   Related Products :
