While some drive manufacturers calculate losses from floods in Thailand,  others prefer to be active - Seagate company today announced changes in the assortment policy and the immediate availability of updated hard drives based on 1TB platters.  In fact, this update reduces one of the major changes in the characteristics of high-end Barracuda - the number of platters is now less than three, even in 3 terabytes models. According to the manufacturer, such activities can reduce the power consumption of hard drives.  From now on all products Seagate Form Factor 3.5 will have 7,200 r / min. . The recommended retail prices for the U.S. market for new line of hard drives Seagate, which uses terabyte platters:   ST3000DM001 (3 TB) -> $ 179.99; ST2000DM001 (2 TB) -> $ 105.99; ST1500DM001 (1.5 TB) -> $ 83.99; ST1000DM003 (1 TB) -> $ 71.99.
