Young Californian company Orchard Inc, founded in 2009, introduced at CES 2012 its high end product - the Tablet PC Toughlet running Android.
The tablet is interesting for at least two reasons. The first - the strong casing made of titanium and aluminum, reliably protecting the hardware components from dust and moisture. The device's screen is covered with protective glass Gorilla Glass. The second feature - Display Pixel Qi (Chi pixel) .
Orchard Toughlet single-chip system is built on Texas Instruments OMAP 4 (probably OMAP 4430), which includes a dual-CPU 1.2 GHz. Other equipment include 1 GB of RAM, 8 mega-pixel camera on the back side, slot for memory cards SDXC, wireless modules Wi-Fi and Bluetooth (the developers promise to release device that supports 3G or LTE).
Mass production is scheduled for the second quarter, and shipments to customers begin in the third quarter this year. The estimated cost of standard version is $ 550.
