Associates already reported to us today the characteristics of servers 45 nm processors penryn, and now it is possible to study the characteristics of mobile processors penryn, which will be released in the first quarter 2008. During September this year will be announced the mobile processor core 2 Extreme x7900 (2.8 GHz), produced on 65 nm technology and which possesses free multiplier. Like its predecessor, it will possess value TDP on the order of 44 W; This is completely normal index for its specific application sphere  . Powerful notebook models can rarely have  long operation time. According to fresh intel road map ,  in the first quarter 2008 , the company will renew the mobile platform santa rosa, after releasing the 45 nm processors penryn with 800 MHz system bus and 3 mb or 6 mb cache in the second level. High end model will become the processor core 2 Extreme with 2.8 GHz frequency  , which after passage on 45 nm technical process will get 6 mb cache in the second level. The names of penryn models are not determined, but their fundamental characteristics are already known: Penryn 2.6 GHz - > two core, 800 MHz system bus, 6 mb cache in the second level; Penryn 2.5 GHz - > two core, 800 MHz system bus, 6 mb cache in the second level; Penryn 2.4 GHz - > two core, 800 MHz system bus, 3 mb cache in the second level; Penryn 2.1 GHz - > two core, 800 MHz system bus, 3 mb cache in the second level. As in the case with server processors harpertown, intel will use multiplier with 0.5x step , that allow to create model with difference in the default frequencies by only 100 MHz. Already in the second quarter 2008 , intel will release new platform under the code name montevina, which uses the chipset cantiga and processors penryn with 1066 MHz system bus. This last will also obtain higher frequencies in comparison with predecessors. Chipsets CANTIGA- PM and Cantiga-GM will ensure support to memory DDR 2-667/800 and DDR 3-800/1066, and also to the technology turbo memory 2.0.
