More than six weeks left before the announcement of dual-core 45 nm processors Wolfdale, their overclock potential was already checked with air cooling , the first processors overclocked to 4.6-4.7 GHz. In XtremeSystems.org forum Hungarian overclockers team attempted to check the overclocking potential of the engineering samples Core 2 Duo E8400 (3.0 GHz) under dry ice. With 1.75 v , the Wolfdale processor was overclocked up to 5176 MHz, at this frequency that processor was able to passe CPU-Z validation .  The motherboard Foxconn MARS based on chipset Intel P35 was used . It also allowed the processor to overclock up to 590 MHz with the reduced to 6 x multipliers.  Super PI 1M Tests run at 5105 MHz frequency with 09.032 seconds. The second processor with 1.75 V and the motherboard Asus Blitz Formula was overclocked under dry ice to 5126 MHz, Super PI 1M was passed in 09.047 seconds. Note that the quad processors Yorkfield under liquid nitrogen overclock up to 6.0 GHz. ... Related Products : | ||
