HGST Company, as reported by the Japanese site AKIBA PC Hotline, used aquarium with a dielectric liquid to demonstrate its tightness with helium-filled hard drives. Unlike traditional magnetic storage plates, they do not communicate with the atmosphere, so the focus with immersion becomes possible.
As can be seen from the photo, helium hard disk during the experiment was below the liquid level in the tank. There is also the motherboard, and the whole system at the same time without problems.
Along the way, the manufacturer said that filling the hard drive enclosure allows helium at equal height accommodate seven platters instead of five. The capacity of the drive is on the increase from six to eight terabytes.
