POSTER:computer news || FUJITSU AND LENOVO POSTPONE THE INTEGRATION OF BUSINESS IN THE PRODUCTION OF PCS
DATE:2017-03-24
Even last autumn, Fujitsu and Lenovo admitted that they are looking for ways to cooperate in the production of personal computers, but they have not yet agreed on concrete steps. It was assumed that they will do so by the end of this month, but now Reuters, referring to NHK, states that the adoption of specific decisions has been postponed until the end of April or at a later date.
According to Japanese media, Fujitsu and Lenovo need more time to complete the negotiations, which have reached an "advanced stage". Fujitsu explains that the company does not refuse plans to integrate its "computer" business with Lenovo. Recall that the corporation Sony has long abandoned the release of laptops and PCs, entrusting the brand VAIO to outside investors. China's Lenovo already has a joint venture with NEC, which controls a third of the Japanese notebook market. After the deal with Fujitsu, Chinese investors can increase their share in the Japanese market to 45%, at least. Most of the laptops manufactured in Japan are now sold on the domestic market, so the future deal with Fujitsu will have minimal impact on Lenovo's global business.
