It is no secret that many drives for reading and recording optical disks as before use the ATAPI interface , although hard disks have already long time ago mastered the support of Serial ATA interface . Problem is aggravated by the fact that some important chipset producers force motherboard producers to rejected the use of IDE ports , and because this the support of the latter was realized using additional controllers.
Such controllers do not always work with optical drives; therefore this contradiction suppresses many owners of contemporary motherboards. They are glad to turn to the use of optical drives with interface Serial ATA, yes there is not only few proposals on the market . Sometimes rescues come with the special adapter, which allows to connect the necessary optical drive with interface ATAPI to the motherboard Serial ATA port , but adapter costs money
As reported from our associate with the reference to Taiwan producers sources , in the second-half of 2007 the drives for the work with the optical disks will almost get the support of Serial ATA interface.and then The ATAPI interface will be finally removed from the market.
Now interface Serial ATA support some models of the optical drives from Plextor, MSI, Sony and Asustek production. to those producer will be soon added new one such Samsung, Pioneer, Lite- it and BenQ (two last producer during April this year ). There are no technical obstacles to passe with the use of Serial ATA interface, the delay of this interface propagation will be caused predominantly by market factors .
