When we reported about AMD solution to isolate production capacities in an independent company, named as Globalfoundries, we can build forecasts about the transfer of the production of video chip AMD/ATI to the capacity of this daughterly enterprise. The need for convergence of technological platforms was caused by the desire of AMD to master the release of hybrid processors, which unite on one piece of silicon graphic and computational core. AMD representatives acknowledged this week that the production of fusion processors will be made by globalfoundries.
Within the 28 nm technical process AMD can release video chip, and they will intersect with globalfoundries interests.
The first 28 nm microcircuits models will appear from globalfoundries already in the second half-year. The series production of video chip on 28 nm technology will be mastered only in 2011. TSMC and Globalfoundries companies refused to use 32 nm technical process for the release of video chip; therefore, all corresponding efforts now will be concentrated around 28 nm technical process. Hybrid processor fusion will be released by Globalfoundries on 32 nm technology.
