Intel Representatives already talked about extreme memory technology , which is the unique intel answer to NVIDIA initiative with the introduction of EPP expansions , this technology in certain degree allow to simplify the memory overclock . It was considered that extreme memory support will be only with DDR3 memory module , utilized in motherboard on base of chipset intel x38. According to the preliminary estimations, memory module with extreme memory support could be overclocked to the regime DDR 3-2000.
Today appeared new information about the announcement periods of chipset intel x38 and the technology extreme memory. This chipset will be supplied in the 38 week in this year, i.e., in the second-half of September. Let us recall that this chipset will propose crossFire support using PCI express x16 + PCI express x16, and will also ensure compatibility with PCI express 2.0 interface .
Analogous to EPP , the Intel technology will be called XMP - Extreme memory profiles.
Let us also note that chipset intel p35 will support XMP . It suffices to update the BIOS to get this future working . Unfortunately, compatibility with XMP will be proposed only to motherboard with DDR- 3 support , since these profiles will not be supported by DDR-2 memory . Here is the list of memory companies witch collaborate with Intel : corsair, Kingston, PNY and OCZ. The Adapted BIOS versions will appear at the end of August.
Finally the XMP support will be inculcated in the mobile segment - for the platform centrino ( following generation ) . ... Related Products :
