Last week during the conference Google I / O audience was shown a workable prototype modular smartphone Ara, in which worked subdivision of advanced technologies and projects - Advanced Technology and Projects (ATAP). Development of the device should be completed in the first half of 2015.
Google has identified the first hundred volunteers who receive free prototypes Ara, the number of signatories to participate in a research program dscout. Reports testers first ATAP will help experts understand what people want from a modular smartphone and in which direction to move the project forward. Interestingly, the desire to join the program dscout expressed more than 90 thousand people.
Meanwhile, the project Ara decided to leave its chief designer, Dan Makosko. He worked at Google since 2012 and for some reason did not renew the expired contract. Probably Capital One company, where Makosko now holds the position of vice president, offered more skilled favorable conditions for cooperation.
