Yesterday AMD encounter with analysts allowed to share the company plans in the future. We start from the description of 45 nm processors, which AMD is assembled to present in the middle of 2008. As in the case of Barcelona, those processor family will become the server product, which is already known to us under the code designation shanghai. This will be the processor with four core on one die with 6 mb divided cache in the third level and some improvements at the core and north bridge level . It will come on 512 KB cache in the second level , for each of four cores will be preserved the socket F and the support to DDR-2 registered memory  . AMD Company  does not exclude the possibility to introduce DDR-3 support with shanghai generation processors , but the major portion of the corresponding products will support only DDR-2. This concerns the desktop segment, where in 2008 will be released the 45 nm processors ridgeback with 6 mb cache in the third level and AM2+ socket . The wides introduction of DDR3 support in desktop segment will start in 2009, when  AMD processors will pass to the 32  nm technical process and AM3 socket . The presented in 2009 AMD processors will be based on new architecture, which is divided in two subtypes according to their energy consumption level : Bulldozer - > from 10 to 100 W; Bobcat - > from 1 to 10 W. Naturally, bulldozer processors class can be based in notebook, desktop computers and servers systems, whereas Bobcat is intended for portable devices and super-mobile computers segment. In the server segment , the first representative of new architecture will become the 45 nm processor sandtiger, it will contain 8 or 16 cores and a memory controllers with DDR- 3 support , in addition to the G3MX technology . All eight cores will be located on one die. The representatives of new architecture will obtain some improvements like the deeper conveyor and the new commands collections  . Servers processors sandtiger will support four channels hyperTransport 3.0. To 2009 , four core AMD processor will be accessible also for the owners of systems with the popular price segments. It is necessary to assume, that the 32 nm technical process will allow to reduce the production prime cost  . For fusion processors class  , based on the bulldozer generation  , are provided the built-in support of PCI express 2.0. If we consider that fusion processors class will have the integrated graphic core with directX 10 support and UVD, and also a memory controller with DDR- 3 support. AMD company will inject fusion processors in the mobile segment (2009)- the first of them will be released on 32 nm technology, it will contain four core class bulldozer and one graphic core. In the same year , fusion processors  will appear also in desktop systems ( middle class ). The core integrated in the processor will be able to work alternately with the discrete graphic card, or can be entirely disconnected. Graphic and processor cores will divide between them general cache and memory controller  . It is expected that bulldozer servers processors will possess 1.5-2 times higher relationship performance per watt, than barcelona processors  . In desktop and mobile segments the increase will compose 30%.   Like Intel, AMD company intends to present new architecture every two years, and in intermediate years to change the current technical process. To achieve such result , AMD have to accelerate the mastery rates of new technical processes. For example, the first 32 nm processors from AMD company will be released one and half years after the release of 45 nm processors. Related Products :
