The Processor Core 2 extreme QX9650 (3.0 GHz) is available in
the market since the middle of November; therefore its overclocking potential
was studied many time. In next weeks will appear
the dual core version Wolfdale. The engineering models of these
processors overclock with air cooling, to the frequency 4.6-4.7 GHz . However,
extreme cooling was not applied to Wolfdale processors frequently,
The highest results was the
frequency 5176 MHz under
dry ice.
Hungarian overclocker was able to improve
their result.
The motherboard Asus P5K got serious modifications at the
hardware level, Vcore was increased to 1.86 v,
memory to 2.5 v and to 1.75 V for the north bridge chip .
The used video card was a Radeon 7000 with PCI interface :-) .
 The Processor Core 2 duo E8400 (3.0 GHz) under dry ice overclock to 5413 MHz. This was simultaneously a new record in Wolfdale overclock and on system bus (610 MHz).
SuperPI 1M with processor frequency 5205 MHz was executed in 8,843 seconds. We hope that these results can be improved under liquid nitrogen. Related Products : | ||

| I O/C\'d mine raising the FSB to 400 (1600) mhz with a basic after market fan cooler

3.6 GHz no need to get stupid... it was fast enuf out of the box
