According to sources and analysts, at least one model of iPhone 8 will be equipped with OLED-display.
According to the sources, The Wall Street Journal, Apple is currently testing more than ten prototypes of the new iPhone, one of which is equipped with a curved OLED-display. The size and resolution of the prototype OLED-screen is not specified. We certainly hope that the iPhone with OLED-display will go on sale next year, but it is possible that Apple will eventually abandon the release of this model in 2017, and will postpone its launch at a later date.
Sources of publications have reported that Apple is asking its suppliers to increase production thin OLED-panels. It also asked the manufacturers of prototype OLED-screen with a higher resolution than the flagship Samsung smartphone. Recall, AMOLED-screen Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge have a resolution 2560x1440 pixels (Quad HD). Interestingly, one of the main suppliers of OLED-displays Samsung Display is called for the new iPhone. While this is not surprising, since different Samsung subsidiaries are one of the key suppliers of components for Apple devices. For example, the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus installed RAM made by Samsung memory modules.
According to the newspaper PhoneArena, the cost of iPhone 8 with OLED-display will be slightly higher than the other models of iPhone with 8 LCD-panels. This is because OLED-IPS-panel displays more similar size and resolution.
