Last fall, Airbus Corporation has announced letter of intent to submit a full-size prototype of the unmanned aircraft by the end of 2017, which is the production version will be able to carry through the air one or more persons without the need for a certified pilot. According to Airbus plan, customers will call the "air taxi" through a smartphone application in advance indicating the route and aircraft with vertical take-off function will transfer them to the destination automatically. Mass production of such vehicles should be established by 2020.
According to Reuters website this week, the head of Airbus Group confirmed the intention Aircraft Corporation to test a prototype passenger drone by the end of this year. This aircraft can carry by air one person. Airbus is not claiming that the first prototype will run on electricity, but notes that the serial aircraft should have a minimal impact on the urban environment.
The introduction of "the flying public transport" will reduce the cost of road infrastructure. However, during the transitional period the benefits of air transport can feel only the most wealthy compatriots.
