Several sources immediately rushed to clarify the situation with the availability of AMD Ryzen Threadripper processors. The PCWorld site emphasized the claims of Dell, which received exclusive rights among large computer builders for the supply of Alienware Area-51 gaming systems, equipped with 16-core or 12-core processors of this family. This means that by the end of the year none of the competitors of the "first echelon" such processors for implementation in the finished PC will not receive. However, colleagues explain that these restrictions do not apply to small manufacturers of ready-made computers, as well as to the retail market, where the "orthodox self-gathering" reigns. Moreover, Alienware Area-51 systems will also offer competing Intel Skylake-X processors - for now only 12 cores, since the older models of the family are delayed until October.
To order AMD systems based on AMD Ryzen Threadripper it will be possible from July 27, but not all sources are sure of the opportunity to purchase similar processors in retail until August 10. In particular, the site KitGuru , citing its own sources, reports that the availability of Ryzen Threadripper processors was postponed to August 10, not the end of July. However, we can not exclude that the announcement will be divided into two phases, when the characteristics and prices will be announced in July, and processors can be purchased in August. By the way, Dell will use its 16-core version of Ryzen Threadripper to overclock its PCs "on all cores".
