Phase change cooling is a known cooling way in our day .Vapochill , prometeia , OCZ Cryo-Z and custom build are very popular , all those phase change cooling allow to reach the maximum clock frequency from cpus, video chips and motherboards .
In this case most people suggest to use the Arctic ceramique as a thermal past since this last , hold low temp ( up to -200 c ) while other silver paste are intended for + temps . Today we have tested 3 thermal paste using vapochill ls . Here is the list of thermal paste used :
1) The well Known Arctic ceramique
2) One of the best thermal paste Arctic Silver 5
3) Arctic Cooling MX-2 also very popular thermal paste
The result was really impressing , according to Arctic , the MX2 is able to handle up to -40 C and this proved to be true . Here is how we tested . Mounted the vapochill ls (modded ) using each thermal compound and tested using prime (Small FTT) for 8 hours . Then we waited another 8 hours and tested again (1 hours test) . CPU and evaporator temperature was checked with our digital thermometer .The CPU used was a E8500 @ 5 GHz with 1.65 v (about 200w heat load)
Here is the observed result for the first run (1 hour):
Here is the observed result for the second run (8 hour later , one hour test):
In a word the MX-2 is a leader for subzero and positive temp , Give it a try u will never get back :-) .
