Bloomfield processors , in the middle of November , will pass to a new stepping. Associate (Coolaler)tested the motherboard Intel DX58SO on base of Intel x58 chipset and the processor core i7 extreme 965 (3.2 GHz) with the box cooler .
The utility CPU- Z 1.47.2 calls the new stepping C0, whereas early models were based on B0 stepping .
In the default conditions the processor frequency is reduced from 3.2 to 1.6 GHz. The motherboard bios allow to assign a limiting multiplier value for each core. This regulation is necessary for the turbo- regime - core with the smaller multiplier limitations can be overclocked more than others. It is possible also to assign a limiting values for the strength and TDP, within the turbo- regime.
User can also control the overclock of memory and QPI bus.
