Today appeared the test results of the dual core processor AMD athlon X2 7750 Black edition, whose official announcement will take place on following Monday, on 15 December. This processor is similar to phenom 8xxx and 9xxx, it is based on the micro-architecture k10, and it is equipped with 2 Mb general cache in the third level. It is produced on the 65 NM technological process, and it is based on the same agena core used in Phenom X3 and Phenom X4. The difference is only in the core quantity . The clock frequency Of athlon X2 7750 Black edition is 2.7 GHz. Associate tested this processor in four applications - 3DMark 2006 (CPU), Cinebench 10 x64, wPrime 1.55 and Fritz chess. As  comparison we have the processors Intel core 2 Duo e6420 (2.13 GHz, 4 Mb. L2), e8200 (2.66 GHz, 6 MB. L2), e8400 (3.0 GHz, 6 MB. L2), and also AMD k8 : AMD athlon X2 5200+ (2.7 GHz, 1 MB. L2) and the three core K10 : AMD phenom X3 8750 (2.4 GHz, 1.5 Mb. L2 + 2 MB. L3). Athlon X2 5200+ works at the same clock frequency as Athlon X2 7750 Black edition. In this case we will compare the performance Of athlon X2 7750 Black edition with Intel core 2 Duo e8200. In Cinebench 10 x64, it is possible to observe the superiority Of athlon X2 7750 Black edition over the AMD k8 : Athlon X2 5200+, by 20%. This again proves that in some cases the performance of k10 micro-architecture is capable to considerably exceed K8, without the aid of additional core. Athlon X2 7750 Black edition was slower than Core 2 Duo e8200 by about 10%. WPrime 1.55, in turn, demonstrates the rare case, when K10 representative are capable to exceed wolfdale representative : Intel core 2 Duo e8200. Even with the high clock frequency, Athlon X2 7750 Black edition is approximately 1% faster. Then, the superiority over Athlon X2 5200+ composes only 5%. If we check the remaining two tests : 3DMark 2006 (CPU) and Fritz chess, then here Athlon X2 7750 Black edition all proves to be more ordinary. Superiority over Athlon X2 5200+ composes 11% and 5% respectively. AMD K10 was slower than Core 2 Duo e8200 by 16% and 23%.   In this case (overclocked), the performance in 3DMark 2006 (CPU)  and Cinebench 10 x64 tests proves to be completely at the level Of core 2 Duo e8200. In wPrime 1.55 the overclocked Athlon X2 7750 Black edition went around the Core 2 Duo e8400, while in Fritz chess Core 2 Duo e8200 was about 10% faster. We note that the recommended cost of Athlon X2 7750 Black edition will be approximately $90, which is not enough to justify the delay from Core 2 Duo e8200. However, if we consider the family athlon X2 7xxx as old Athlon X2 replacement, based on Brisbane cores, then it is possible to say that the replacement succeeded. Related Products :
